How can I get a deck of OmenQuest Cards?

Sign into Kickstarter on October 2nd between 1 and 2 pm PST and become a backer to the OmenQuest campaign. A $17 dollar contribution will get you a deck by some time in the Spring. You can contribute after 2 pm and throughout October but sooner is better. If you really need a deck before then you can signup for the newsletter to be entered into a drawing to win the deck! Every friend you suggest to the newsletter that uses you as a referral will give you another entry into the drawing!

If you can’t lose, how do you win?

Everyone wins, no one loses. Players are faced with sometimes seemingly impossible choices every turn. Upon playing their card/cards they will find the elation of success. Overcoming challenges is naturally rewarding, and OmenQuest delivers challenges.

How do you play OmenQuest?

OmenQuest cards are not used for one game in particular but for an array of games that all have few rules and no way to lose. Check out the rules to many of the games you can play wit OmenQuest Cards here.

How many players to a game?

Most games played with OmenQuest cards can be played by 2 to maybe 8 players, maybe more, maybe less. Really it depends on the space you are playing. You can play with as many players as can comfortably sit in a circle in such a way that everyone can see each other’s cards as they are played and hear what each other are saying.

What is the playtime of a typical game?

How long do you want to play? Because honestly, if we remove the possibility of losing, you only play as long as you want to. Sometimes you might have only five to ten minutes to play, sometimes you might shuffle the deck a few times to keep the game going. OmenQuest games are more about the journey than the destination. Just try to make sure everyone gets an equal number of turns or whatever you need to find closure before going your separate ways.

How many games can be played with OmenQuest cards?

Currently, there are at least 6 games you can play with OmenQuest cards, but potentially there is no limit to this deck of cards. Anyone can invent a game as long as there are few rules and no way to lose. Learn how to play an assortment of games. Check out Hi-Q, it’s a favorite.

Will there be more decks?

Hopefully there will be more decks, but first, let’s just make this one. I’ve been playing with it for 11 years and can tell you, it is all you need to start. But yeah, six more decks is the extended goal.

Why is it called OmenQuest?

Life is a quest, as long as you keep asking questions. Sometimes life offers answers, as long as you are willing to read the omens. OmenQuest brings it all together and gives you a place to practice both. Each turn you must take a small journey and find some kind of omen along your quest.

What is a Hi-Q?

It’s both the name of an OmenQuest poem making game and something of a core philosophy behind all OmenQuest games. It is not a haiku, it’s a Hi-Q! There is no syllable count or particular rhyming required. It is not about the structure of the poem, but quite the contrary. Whatever you say is deemed a poem. You can’t go wrong, but it’s a good idea to use metaphors when you think of them. You are not required to say the words on the cards. There is no way to lose if you try. You will only get better with each turn. Start impulsively if you must, you will be fine. There is no way to lose.

What is Dragonflower Ink?

On the surface, Dragonflower Ink is an Arts & Entertainment company in northernmost California’s Humboldt County. But honestly, if you must know, it is all just a clever guise for a wizard school. Magic isn’t learned in semesters. For starters, we recommend you get a deck of OmenQuest Cards.
